Massage therapy is a wonderful way to support both your physical and mental well-being. It is widely accepted as an effective way to reduce pain, relieve muscle tension, and lower stress. Many people find it helps with headaches, eases anxiety, and promotes a deeper sense of relaxation.
Research has shown that massage can help reduce stress hormones like cortisol while boosting those feel-good brain chemicals that lift your mood. It also improves blood flow, which helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to your muscles for better recovery. Whether you are dealing with tightness from sitting at a desk or just need a moment of calm, massage is a great way to help your body reset.
The best frequency for massage really depends on your personal goals and lifestyle. For someone looking to manage general stress and stay relaxed, a session every three to four weeks is often enough to maintain those benefits. If you are dealing with chronic pain or recovering from an injury, you might notice the most relief with a weekly or bi-weekly visit.
Athletes or those with physically demanding routines can also benefit from more frequent massages to help with muscle recovery. Consistency is more important than how often you come in, so we always suggest finding a rhythm that feels good for you and your budget.
After a massage, your body is settling into a more relaxed state. Your nervous system shifts, which helps lower your heart rate and blood pressure. This is why people often feel a sense of calm or maybe a little sleepy afterward. It is also common to feel a bit thirsty, which is just your body's natural response to increased circulation. You might notice your muscles feel looser and less sore, especially if you have been dealing with tightness. Drinking a glass of water and taking it easy after your session helps support these positive effects as your body enjoys its new feeling of ease.
We are so excited that you are about to receive your first massage! When you arrive for your first session, your therapist will take a moment to talk to you about your needs.
This is a great opportunity to discuss any pain you might be experiencing. During this discussion, we will ask you for the level of pressure you would like your massage to be. Please communicate with your therapist during your massage if the pressure is too heavy for you, or you need a little bit more. After discussing your need with your therapist, you will be given a moment of privacy to undress and lay face down on the heated massage table.
Your therapist will knock before entering the room again. Unless you have made a specific request, your massage will begin working from the upper body and neck, to arms and hands, down to the lower body and legs.
Your comfort is the most important part of a massage. We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing when arriving at your massage. You will be given privacy before your massage to dress down before the massage and again when your massage is over.
We understand that issues may arise on the way to your appointment. We will do our best to accommodate you if you are late, but please be aware that you might lose time from your massage. All cancellations and rescheduling requests must be made 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. Same day cancellations cannot be refunded. If you have any questions, please reach out to our team. We are looking forward to helping you on your healing journey.
